2014 Bond Initiatives

In November 2014, voters in the Clackamas Community College district approved a $90-million bond measure that was used to update and expand college classrooms and labs and modernize equipment to meet industry standards. Passage of the bond also resulted in CCC receiving $32 million in state matching funds, which was used to support Harmony West, the Holden Industrial Technology Center, the DeJardin/Pauling Science Complex and the Wacheno Welcome Center.

The bond measure was developed after a two-year community engagement process, asking the community what they most valued and needed from the college today and in the future. The bond projects address the requests during this process. Career technical and transfer degrees were identified as the top two areas for strategic improvement.

Clackamas Community College has 27 buildings on three campuses in Oregon City, the Harmony Community Campus in North Clackamas and the Wilsonville Training Center. Implementation of the bond projects includes opportunities for students, area businesses and local workforce.

The following projects will be constructed on the Oregon City and Harmony campuses:

Project 1:

Harmony West

This project replaced the 61-year-old former Oregon Institute of Technology building on the Harmony Community Campus in Milwaukie. The new facility allows CCC to continue to grow its Health Science, workforce development and general education offerings in the North Clackamas area.

Project 2:

Holden Industrial Technology Center

Construction of the Holden Industrial Technology Center on the Oregon City campus, complete with labs and classrooms, benefits manufacturing, machining and CNC machining programs.

Project 3:

DeJardin/Pauling Science Complex

The DeJardin Science building on the Oregon City campus received an addition and improvements to the existing facility. Along with the renovation and modernization of the remaining building, classrooms and facilities now provide modern science labs for students. Programs benefitting from the expansion include Water and Environmental Technology, High Purity Water, Nursing and Health Science. The expansion will also improve access to science labs, which is critical to university-bound transfer students.

Project 4:

Wacheno Welcome Center

This project created the new Wacheno Welcome Center and remodeled the Bill Brod Community Center on the Oregon City campus. The new facility allows CCC to co-locate critical support services such as veterans services, disabilities resources and career coaching in one convenient location. Helping students stay in school and on track with their career and academic pathways is a priority for CCC.

Project 5:

Facility and Campus Upgrades

Upgrades and renovations to existing facilities are expected to result in cost savings to the college through increased efficiencies.

Project 6:

Automotive Expansion and Remodel

This expansion and remodel doubled the space for the college's high school program, where students from regional high schools come on campus and take classes with CCC instructors. Students are now learning in modern facilities with state-of-the-art equipment, similar to what they will find working in the industry.

Project 7:

Roger Rook Hall, First Floor Remodel

This remodel project moved key offices to a location that is easy for the college community to access. This space is now the home of the President’s Office, the CCC Foundation and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
