Census Date Policy FAQ
A Census Date is the point at which enrollment is locked for financial aid purposes. Each term, the Census Date coincides with the last day a student can drop classes for a full refund. Our Census Date will be on Sunday of the second week of each term (14th day of the term). Financial aid is based on the degree eligible credits you are registered for on the Sunday of the second week of the term (the Census Date) by the end of the day (11:59 p.m.)
Yes. Pell eligible students that wish to have late starting courses included in their enrollment status must have registered for those courses by the Census Date.
Maybe. Students might be eligible to appeal adding a class after the census date if there are extenuating circumstances that would justify the late addition.
If a student drops a course(s) after the Census Date, the student will receive a W grade which will be on their transcript. Depending on the date and the number of classes dropped, the student will be responsible for returning all or a portion of their award. See Repayment of Federal Aid for more information.
Only Title IV eligible courses will be counted toward financial aid calculations/awards. Courses must be required by your primary program of study. See the Advising Department for questions regarding your primary program of study.
Federal aid may only be used to repeat a course one time after a passing grade (D- or better) is received. We are unable to make exceptions even in cases where the grade earned does not meet departmental requirements.

* First day financial aid disbursement process can begin. Federal regulations allow three business days to complete this process. The process will continue weekly thereafter for the remainder of the term.
Yes, CCC has free TriMet passes available for students who qualify. Contact the Transportation Office at transportation@clackamas.edu to schedule an appointment to receive the free passes. If you do not already have an Honored Citizen Hop card, please enroll in TriMet’s Low-Income Fare Program through this online application.
Census Date Policy FAQ regarding Bookstore charges
Yes. Students who have been awarded and accepted aid beyond the cost of their tuition will be able to charge at the CCC Bookstore beginning one week before the start of the term through the end of the second week of the term.
Maybe. Pending aid is aid that has not yet been accepted by the student. Pell grants don’t need to be accepted but student loans do. Students have to accept their loans to be eligible for loan disbursements. If students have any type of pending aid which has not been accepted, the pending aid amount will not be calculated as part of the refund, and students will not be allowed to charge books at the CCC Bookstore for lack of available/accepted funds to cover the balance.
Students can charge up to $500 per term of available aid, for books and supplies at the CCC bookstore. Purchases over $500 must be paid for out of pocket at the time of purchase. Not all students will have enough aid to cover bookstore charges.
To charge books in the CCC Bookstore, you will need a current award offer from the CCC Financial Aid office. If you have questions about completing your FAFSA/ORSAA, please contact Financial Aid.
Once CCC has received your FAFSA/ORSAA, and you have completed the award process, you may be eligible to charge up to $500 in the CCC Bookstore. Access will begin one week before the start of the term and end at 3 p.m. on the last business day of the second week of the term.

If you have applied for your financial aid and have not been awarded funding, you can complete a short term book loan with the Accounts Receivable Department. Please contact them at 503-594-6068 or staccounts@clackamas.edu.
If you are a Pell eligible student and would like to purchase your textbooks elsewhere, you can complete a short term book loan along with an opt-out form with Accounts Receivable Department. If eligible, you can choose to have a check issued to you in the amount of the textbooks, not to exceed $500.00.
Only books, supplies, or equipment required for your classes. You cannot charge general merchandise (like clothing, food, or gifts).
When you are viewing your student account, your bookstore charges will appear as ‘Flnk-Rcpt’.
Yes, you will need to provide your student ID. If you have not obtained your student ID, please visit Registration and Records in Roger Rook.
Here are the most common things that will prevent you from charging books:
- Account balance is greater than financial aid: If your student account is greater than the amount of financial aid you are expecting to receive, you will not have the ability to charge your books and supplies.
- Recently registered? If you just registered, it takes about 24 hours to authorize CCC Bookstore charging.
- Not enough money: Did you already charge $500 worth of books? If so, you have no remaining charge allowance.
- Not maintaining eligibility: You have to be making satisfactory academic progress to charge books.
- Master Promissory Note and/or Entrance Counseling not completed. These steps must be completed in order for the funds to reflect as available for purchasing books.
Yes, you may return your books to the bookstore. Please see the CCC Bookstore return policy. Credit will be applied to your student account. No cash refunds will be given.
If you did not charge any textbooks, required supplies or equipment in our CCC Bookstore, you can contact the bookstore directly at sm8278@bncollege.com or 503-594-6500. Please have ready your student ID# and the date of purchase ready that you are disputing.
This means that you charged textbooks, required supplies or equipment at the CCC Bookstore to your student account. These charges will be deducted from your financial aid as long as you have enough financial aid to cover your student account balance. If your financial aid does not cover your entire balance, you are responsible for paying the remaining balance.
Your online order history can be found on your CCC Bookstore website account. For in-store purchases, contact the bookstore and provide the following information: student name, date of purchase, amount of purchase and student ID.
Please note it may take up to two business days to research this information.
