Common class registration issues
You can register for classes by logging into the myClackamas portal. If you are unable to register for a class, check out these common issues below with instructions to resolve them. Make note if there is an error message displayed on the upper right screen. These messages can help to identify and resolve the issue.
Most common registration issues
If you see this message, ensure you have selected a section.
Example: FYE-101-01
- FYE-101 is the course.
- 01 is the section.
To pick a section, click on "View other sections" and click on a section.

The section will then appear like this. Click on "Register".

This message appears if the course is not offered in the term selected or you are trying to view section information for a future term too early because the class schedule for the future term is not yet available.
Log into your student email account to review notifications related to your registration hold.
Examples:
- Please complete online new student orientation before registering: New students must complete New Student Orientation before registering. For questions contact welcome@clackamas.edu or 503-594-6231.
- Must clear academic standing to register: You have a hold due to academic warning or suspension. Follow the steps on the advising webpage. For questions contact advising@clackamas.edu or 503-594-3475.
First, check for any registration holds. If you don’t have a hold, then you are likely trying to register before your priority registration date/time begins. You can only register for courses after your registration time has opened. Registration priority is based on the number of credits completed at CCC or verified veteran status confirmed by CCC Veterans Services. If you are still having issues even if you are eligible for registration, contact registration@clackamas.edu.
If you are trying to register for more than 18 credits, you need approval from an advisor. Review credit overload criteria (listed on the form) and submit a Credit Overload form.
There are no open seats and either the waitlist is full or the class does not offer a waitlist option. You cannot register for the class unless you have instructor permission.

You cannot register for two sections of the same course. You also cannot be registered and waitlisted for the same class.
